NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY AND METHOD OF FORMING COATING FOR NEGATIVE ELECTRODE ACTIVE MATERIAL THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve characteristics of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery by forming a coating continuing to exist on a negative electrode active material without being broken regardless of the degree of volume variation of the negative electrode active material.

SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode each having an active material capable of storing/releasing lithium, a separator interposed between the positive and negative electrodes, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode active material is covered by the coating having elasticity. The elasticity-rich coating exerts a desired function without being broken in order to follow the volume variation of the negative electrode active material.
