PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct liquid type writing utensil, which becomes usable immediately after the insertion of an ink tank and has no possibility of leakage of ink to outside through a pen point or a vent hole. SOLUTION: A barrel 3 is equipped with a larger diameter tubular part 41 and a smaller diameter tubular part 42 projected rearwards from the bottom wall of the larger diameter tubular part 41. Within the larger diameter tubular part 41, a comb-shaped ink reserving member 6 equipped with a nib 2 at the front end is housed. The smaller diameter tubular part 42 is insertingly mounted in the fore end opening part of the ink tank 8. A reduced diameter tubular part 62 is formed en bloc at the rear end part of the ink reserving member 6. The reduced diameter tubular part 62 is inserted in the smaller diameter tubular part 42. From the rear end of the reduced diameter tubular part 62 backwards, a shaft axis hole 64 is made open. A first slit 61a is axially provided in the ink reserving part 61 of the ink reserving member 6. A second slit 62a is axially provided on the outer surface of the reduced diameter tubular part 62.
