PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material capable of applying reforming and renewal to a target article ranging from a relatively large size to a small size only by bonding the sheet material to the target article without repairing, replacing or washing the target article, preventing the see-through of the ground color, contamination or damage of the target article after reforming, providing the peculiar taste of wood making the best use of woodgrain to the target article after construction to enjoy the aroma or natural warmth of wood and capable of flexibly corresponding even to a relatively fine work region to be bonded to it. SOLUTION: Wood is sliced under a condition that the whole or a part of vessels and/or tracheids of wood can be seen through and impregnated with a polyurethane resin or a polyvinyl acetate resin to form a wood-shaved sheet, and a sheetlike member and a metal sheet are bonded to the back of the wood-shaved sheet to obtain the sheet material.
