PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of achieving power saving and appropriately performing power cutoff control. SOLUTION: A controller 7 constituting the projector 1 is equipped with: a mode switching means 741 changing power supplied from a power source device 3 to a light source device 41 to power in accordance with a power mode based on power mode information set and input in an operation part 2 and switching the power mode; a timer 75 measuring time taken after switching the power mode by the mode switching means 741; a first set temperature information storage means 771 for storing a plurality of pieces of first set temperature information concerning first set temperature in accordance with the respective power modes; and a power cutoff means 742 performing the power cutoff control to cut off the power supplied from the power source device 3 to the light source device 41 when detected temperature detected by a thermistor 6 becomes equal to or above the first set temperature in accordance with the power mode switched by the mode switching means 741 after the predetermined time elapses as the measured time by the timer 75.
