Printed carriers have symbol, point, line, letter or similar motifs having a different appearance on the two sides, the motifs being obtained by partial or selective uptake of a color or lacquer layer containing a hardener onto a continuous color or lacquer layer, followed by removal of those parts of the continuous layer not solidified by the hardener. Independent claims are included for: (i) Production of a printed carrier by completely coating the carrier with a solvent-soluble color or lacquer layer and printing onto this the required symbols using a color or lacquer layer containing an additive able to diffuse into the complete coating and crosslink or harden it, the regions not treated with the additive then being removed using a solvent; (ii) A biodegradable printing ink with good rheological and wash-out properties and increased solvent tolerance comprising (wt.%) (A) a hydroxycellulose (5-35) or polyvinyl alcohol (5-30); (B) pigment (5-80); and (C) solvent (15-87); and (iii) A font consisting only of a skeleton, such that conventional computer-generated script or symbols being converted into the corresponding vectors which are then converted via a known program into skeleton lines adapted to the required process. |
