PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial cornea and a manufacturing method of the artificial cornea capable of forming the artificial cornea of a desired thickness, and forming the two sides of the artificial cornea to a desired surface state.SOLUTION: Cornea formation surfaces 4 of two surfaces on which an artificial cornea 1 is formed are caused to face each other. A base material 2 for forming the artificial cornea is arranged in an environment where a biological tissue material is present. The artificial cornea 1 is formed on the cornea formation surfaces 4. The two surfaces of the artificial cornea 1 are formed, matching the cornea formation surfaces 4. The space of the cornea formation surfaces 4 is set suitably. The artificial cornea 1 of a desired thickness is formed. The cornea formation surfaces 4 are formed to a smooth surface. The two sides of the artificial cornea 1 are formed to a desired surface state such as the smooth surface.
