PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for detecting a thing left behind which can surely detect the thing left behind and notify the detected thing by a simple method without requiring an expensive ID tag. SOLUTION: The apparatus 10 for detecting a thing left behind is constituted of: a receiving master set 20 provided with a human body detection means, an oscillator starting means for transmitting a signal for starting an oscillator handset, a means for detecting the oscillator handset, a display means, and a sound output means; and the oscillator handset 30 to be fitted to each thing. When a person is detected by the human body detection means, a start signal is transmitted from the oscillator handset starting means, a prescribed slave handset signal from the started oscillator set 30 is received and a prescribed display and a prescribed sound output corresponding to the received slave handset signal are performed.
