PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system easy to handle and of high scalability. SOLUTION: In this information processing system, port numbers branched from node points of a star type connection are associated with physical positions of devices. To ensure storage of a device connected to a port having a specific number in a specific physical position, the port having the corresponding specific number can be provided in the vicinity of the specific physical position. Further, the system comprises a configuration for using, as a logic position that is the identifier of the device connected to the port used by software, the port number thereof.
