PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve a backlash tightening function between housings. SOLUTION: Two pieces each of backlash tightening ribs 75 with a cross-sectional crest shape are formed on each face on the outer circumference of tube part 62 of a front wall member 60 which constitutes a terminal housing part 70 in a female housing 40. An engaging groove 25 of trapezoidal cross-section in which the backlash tightening rib 75 is engaged is formed on the inner circumference face of the small hood portion 14 of a male housing 10. The width A of an opening edge 25A of the engaging groove 25 is established to be smaller than the width B of a skirt portion 75A of the backlash tightening rib 75. Since the both skirt portions 75A of the backlash tightening rib 75 and the corresponding opening edges 25A of the engaging groove 25 are mutually crushed, backlash tightening is carried out. Vibration is prevented at the positions close to the position where male and female terminal fittings 20, 30 are engaged and connected. Thereby, backlash tightening rib 75 and the engaging groove 25 can be established throughout the whole circumference and backlash can be tightened uniformly from the whole circumference.
