SIDE FRAME AND BOLSTER FOR A RAILWAY TRUCK AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME A method for manufacturing a bolster (700) of a railway car truck that includes a pair of shoe pockets (710) at respective ends (705) configured to be inserted into bolster openings (110) of respective side frames (100), a pair of brake window openings (725), and a pair of lightener windows (720), the method comprising the steps of: providing a first flask (525) and a second flask (526); inserting a first bolster pattern into the first flask (525) and inserting a second bolster pattern into the second flask (526); filling the first flask (525) with a molding material (527) around the first bolster pattern and filling the second flask (526) with a molding material (527) around the second bolster pattern; curing the molding material (527); removing the first bolster pattern from the molding material (527) to thereby form a first portion of a mold and removing the second bolster pattern from the molding material (527) to thereby form a second portion of a mold, wherein the first portion and the second portion are defined by a parting line (905) that extends around an exterior surface of the mold (900); inserting one or more cores (1100) into the mold (900) that define an interior region of a cast bolster (700); closing the mold (900); pouring a casting material into the mold (900) through at least one feed path; removing the bolster (700) casting from the mold (900); removing rigging from the bolster casting; and finishing the bolster casting; wherein the bolster (700) includes sidewalls having a wall thickness that is equal and constant on either side of the parting line (905).
