PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a GPS receiver with enhanced surveying accuracy by selectively capturing a certain number of signals sent out from a multitude of satellites. SOLUTION: This GPS receiver for receiving radio waves sent out from a plurality of satellites is equipped with an antenna for receiving the radio waves sent out from the respective satellites, an elevation angle computing part 501 for finding the elevation anglesθn of the respective satellites based on the received radio waves, and a comparison part 503 for comparing the elevation anglesθn with a prescribed reference elevation angleθref. Position measurement is performed by selectively using only radio waves from satellites whose elevation anglesθn are larger than the elevation angleθref.
