PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accessory capable of maintaining excellent hardness and an esthetic appearance for a long period by an especially environment-friendly method. SOLUTION: The accessory 1A comprises both a base material 2 in which at least part of the vicinity of its surface is mainly constituted of Ti and/or stainless steel and a coating 3 provided on the base material 2 and mainly constituted of PtCN. The surface roughness Ra of the coating 3 does not exceed 0.3μm. Such an accessory 1A is acquired by forming the coating 3 on the base material 2 by irradiating an electron beam to Pt housed in a housing device having an approximately circular opening part in an atmosphere containing both C and N. The relation 1≤D<SB>H</SB>-D<SB>B</SB>≤5 (wherein, the beam diameter of the electron beam is D<SB>B</SB>[mm]; and the inner diameter of the opening part of the housing device is D<SB>H</SB>[mm]) is satisfied in a process for forming the coating 3.
