PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the drop of a suspended load for improving safety by prohibiting the release of the suspended load even when an operation switch is operated toward the release side by mistake as the suspended load is lifted. SOLUTION: This suspended load holding device 1 to be used for cargo handling work by a crane is provided with a load detecting means 7 to detect the load of the suspended load, and a release prohibiting means to prohibit release action of the suspended load holding device 1 when the operation switch of the suspended load holding device 1 is operated as the load of the suspended load is detected by the load detecting means 7.
