METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANUFACTURING METAL-TUBE SHEATHED OPTICAL FIBER CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a metal-tube sheathed optical fiber cable by reducing damage to a guide pipe 18 caused by welding heat when the metal-tube sheathed optical fiber cable is manufactured by sending an optical fiber 20 into a metal tube 16 through the guide pipe 18 inserted into the metal pipe 16 so that the optical fiber tip is positioned before a welding position while the metal pipe 16 is manufactured by forming a metal tape 10 into a tube and welding the seam of the metal tape 10. SOLUTION: The seam of the metal tape 10 is welded while a welding torch 14 for welding the seam is moved along the seam in a reciprocating manner. Consequently, the welding heat is not concentrated on a single place of the guide pipe.
