PROGRAM GUIDE SYSTEM WITH VIDEO-ON-DEMAND BROWSING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interactive television program guide system with a video-on-demand browsing capability.SOLUTION: An interactive television program guide system is provided. In the system, a viewer can direct a television to simultaneously display a selected television program and a program guide display. The viewer can continue to view a previously selected program in a background of the program guide display while browsing available video-on-demand (VOD) by using the program guide display. The viewer can browse video-on-demand programs on the program guide display by using a variety of keys on a remote control unit. The viewer can direct a program guide to order a given video-on-demand program, and set desired broadcast time for that program.
