PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balance mechanism of an internal combustion engine for miniaturizing the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This balancer mechanism has a balancer shaft 34 rotating by interlocking with a crankshaft 12 and a balancer weight arranged on the balancer shaft 34, integrally rotating with the balancer shaft 34 and negating vibration caused by reciprocating motion of a piston 11. A crankcase 12A is formed by joining upper and lower case half bodies 3B and 4A, and the upper case half body 3A is joined to a cylinder block 3, and a contact plane 12C of the upper and lower case half bodies 3B and 4A is formed by substantially vertically extending by an inclination of a cylinder shaft 11A in a side cross-sectional view, and the balancer shaft 34 is positioned under the crankshaft 12. The axes 12d and 34d are positioned on the contact plane by sandwiching and supporting the crankshaft 12 and the balancer shaft 34 by the upper and lower case half bodies 3B and 4A.
