PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an olefin polymer with a fluidized bed type reactor by which formation of massive materials is suppressed. SOLUTION: The method for producing the olefin polymer comprises feeding an olefin and a catalyst for olefin polymerization to the fluidized bed type reactor equipped with a gas distributor plate in the interior and carrying out the polymerization of the olefin while forming a fluidized bed of solid particles containing the catalyst for the olefin polymerization on the gas distributor plate. Furthermore, in the method for producing the olefin polymer, the gas distributor plate is a swirling stream type gas distributor plate and the catalyst for the olefin polymerization is fed to a swirling stream region of the fluidized bed.
