PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combination of a thermal transfer sheet and a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet, and an image forming method, by which occurrence of JAM (jamming) in an initial operation stage of a printer can be prevented and a printed material with high glossiness and high quality can be obtained.SOLUTION: The combination comprises: a thermal transfer sheet 10 having a dye primer layer 2 and a dye layer 3 disposed in this order on one surface of a substrate 1 and a back surface layer 5 disposed on the other surface of the substrate; and a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet having a dye-receiving layer disposed on one surface of another substrate. The dye primer layer of the thermal transfer sheet contains colloidal silica; and the dye-receiving layer of the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet is a water-based dye-receiving layer.
