[Problem] To enable both a first stylus corresponding to a first communication method and a second stylus corresponding to a second communication method to be suitably used together with a sensor controller. [Solution] A communication method according to a first aspect of the present invention includes: a step in which a sensor controller executes dual mode discovery (SD_DUAL), in which first discovery (SD_STD) for sending out a search signal for detecting a first stylus and second discovery (SD_PRP) for detecting a second stylus are alternately repeated; a step in which, when the first stylus is detected, the sensor controller determines that the operation mode of the sensor controller is a first mode; and a step in which, when the second stylus is detected, the sensor controller determines that the operation mode of the sensor controller is a second mode. |
