PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection device that improves 3D image quality.SOLUTION: A projection device 1 includes a color synthesis unit 10, a polarization conversion unit 20, and a projection lens 30. The color synthesis unit 10 synthesizes each of rays of three primary R, G, B colors and outputs synthesized light. The polarization conversion unit 20 is located on an output side of the color synthesis unit 10 to convert a polarization state of each color ray of the synthesized light into an unpolarized state uniformly in all directions. The projection lens 30 projects output light from the polarization conversion unit 20. One selected from a wavelength-selective 1/2 wavelength plate that introduces a π phase shift to light of predetermined wavelengths, a uniaxial organic material having one optical axis, and a uniaxial crystal having one optical axis is used as the polarization conversion unit 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
