PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery with high utilization ratio of cathode active material and is superior in cycle characteristics.SOLUTION: The cathode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery contains lithium composite oxide particles as a major component, in which the ratio of Ni relative to the total number of moles of metal elements excluding Li is larger than 30 mole %. The lithium composite oxide particles includes a secondary particle, which is formed by aggregated primary particles, the average particle diameter of which is 1 μm or more, and a shell formed around the secondary particle, and has a surface layer void between the secondary particle and the shell.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
