PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a cationic electrodeposition paint composition excellent in paint stability, curability and coating film appearance and containing a bismuth compound.SOLUTION: There is provided a preparation method of a cationic electrodeposition paint composition including a step of mixing a resin emulsion (i) and a pigment dispersion paste, where the resin emulsion (i) contains an amine resin (A) and a block isocyanate curing agent (B), the pigment dispersion paste contains an amine modified epoxy resin emulsion (ii) containing a bismuth mixture obtained by mixing a bismuth compound (c1) and organic acid (c2) in advance, a pigment dispersion resin (D) and an amine modified epoxy resin (E) and a pigment (F), the pigment dispersion resin (D) has a hydroxyl group value of 20 to 120 mgKOH/g and the amine modified epoxy resin (E) has a hydroxyl group value of 150 to 650 mgKOH/g.SELECTED DRAWING: None
