PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery capable of reliable charge/discharge and inspection of voltage/resistance without contact failure during charge/discharge or inspection of the voltage/resistance of the battery and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a battery including an electrode group having a positive electrode and a negative electrode, an exterior member, a positive electrode lead and a negative electrode lead is provided. The exterior member has sealant inside it and the electrode group is sealed inside it by heat sealing using sealant. At least one lead of the positive electrode lead and the negative electrode lead is thermally-welded to the sealant of the exterior member on both sides via a metallic adhesive film. At least one lead of the positive electrode lead and the negative electrode lead has an insulating coating formed on the surface contacting with the metallic adhesive film. A thickness of the insulating coating is thicker than that on a tip surface of at least one lead. Charging/discharging or inspection after assembling a battery is carried out by electrically contacting a terminal with the tip surface of at least one lead.
