PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome a problem of a conventional compound seismic isolator which is obtained by energizing a slider interposed between lower and upper sliding surfaces, toward the center thereof, i.e., to overcome a problem of instability of the upper sliding surface above the slider. SOLUTION: There is provided a new seismic isolator which is constructed in the following manner. Three concave lower sliding surfaces 2 are formed in a lower shuttle race slide 1, and three concave upper sliding surfaces 4 are formed in an upper shuttle race slide 3, followed by bringing three lower contactors 6 arranged on the slider 5 into contact with the lower sliding surface 2, to thereby mount the slider 5 on the lower shuttle race slide 1 at three points. On the other hand, three upper contactors 7 arranged on the slider 5 are brought into contact with the upper sliding surface 1, to thereby mount the upper shuttle race slide 1 on the slider 5 at three points. Then, three lower roller bearing stands 23 arranged on the slider 5 are connected to the center of the lower shuttle race slide 1 by means of wires 27 equipped with respective lower elastic bodies 8, and three upper roller bearing stands 25 arranged on the slider 5 are connected to the center of the upper shuttle race slide 3 by means of wires 28 equipped with respective upper elastic bodies 9.
