PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing essential oil of Citrus unshiu fruit is provided. It has excellent antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes as an acne-causing bacterium and can be effectively used for the cosmetic composition to prevent and treat acne. CONSTITUTION: The cosmetic composition contains 0.0001 to 30.0% by weight of essential oil of Citrus unshiu fruit. The essential oil of Citrus unshiu fruit is prepared by the steps of: crushing a Citrus unshiu fruit; extracting solids of the Citrus unshiu fruit in 1 to 15 times of a solvent at 5 to 25deg.C for 1 to 10 days and followed by concentration under reduced pressure. The solvent is selected from lower alcohol (methanol, ethanol), ethyl acetate, benzene, chloroform, hexane, acetone, 1,3-butylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerine and a mixed solvent thereof.
