INORGANIC COATING COMPOSITION, ULTRAVIOLET-SCREENING COATING FILMS AND PROCESS FOR FORMING THE FILMS

An inorganic coating composition which can form ultraviolet -screening coating films excellent in transparency and the tight adhesion to organic substrates. An inorganic coating composition which comprises 0.1 to 20 % by mass of (a) particles of at least one member selected from the group consisting of CeO<SUB>2</SUB>, TiO<SUB>2</SUB> and ZnO which have a mean particle diameter of 5 to 3000nm, 1 to 20 % by mass of (b) a water-compatible organic solvent (A) which can swell or dissolve an organic substrate and exhibits a boiling point of 130°C or above under the condition of a pressure of 0.1MPa, and 60 to 98.9 % by mass of (c) a water-compatible organic solvent (B) which neither swells nor dissolves an organic substrate substantially and exhibits a boiling point of 50 to 120 °C under the condition of a pressure of 0.1MPa and/or (d) water and which can form ultraviolet-screening coating films on organic substrates.
