摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating a light leak by previously and precisely evaluating a frame-shaped light leak in a screen end part of a liquid crystal display device in a state wherein the polarizing plate is not mounted on the liquid crystal display device, and to provide the polarizing plate which hardly causes the frame-shaped light leak. <P>SOLUTION: The method for evaluating the light leak of the liquid crystal display device which comprises a liquid crystal cell and two polarizing plates arranged on both its sides and wherein each polarizing plate comprises a polarizing film and two transparent protection films arranged on both its sides is characterized in that the light leak in the screen end part of the liquid crystal display device is evaluated by measuring the in-surface distribution of retardation of the polarizing plate which has been recorded under designated temperature and humidity conditions while a proper substrate is brought into contact with the polarizing plate which is not incorporated in the liquid crystal display device yet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
