A method for controlling a tensioning device on a safety belt system is disclosed. The safety belt system comprises a safety belt (30) partly wound on a belt winding shaft (10) and a tensioning device acting on the belt winding shaft, by means of which the at least two differing tension levels can be generated in the safety belt, wherein at least one first low tension level is always present in the done up state and a second increased tension level is generated when the tensioning device receives a corresponding signal from an external sensor and selector unit (42). According to the invention, the security of the person wearing the safety belt can be increased wherein a third tension level can be generated in the safety belt with the occupants wearing the same said level being between the first and second tension level. |
