PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide autophagy inhibitors in combination with a chemotherapeutic compound or radiation that induce autophagy resulting in a synergistically beneficial effect in treatment of a broad spectrum of cancers.SOLUTION: The present specification provides compositions comprising a thioxanthone-based autophagy inhibitor and/or a cancer therapeutic autophagy inducing compound, pharmaceutical kits comprising these compositions, and methods of treating cancer using such compounds, compositions and kits.
