A method for frequency- and time-selective interference suppression for a communication system based on OFDM, and a receiver therefor. 2.1 The prior art discloses various pulse blanking approaches for suppressing pulsed interference, in particular simple pulse blanking SPB or combination pulse blanking CPB, that can be used for employing DME suppression in an L-DACS1 receiver. 2.2 In order to achieve a much lower bit error rate at the output of the receiver or to permit greater interference or a lower signal-to-noise ratio (in the prior art, at least 45 nm (nautical miles)) for the same transmission power, the invention provides – on the basis of a method according to the preamble of patent claim 1 – a filter bank pulse blanking method FBPB in which – the sampled received signal (r) is applied to a blanking unit (BU) for frequency-selective pulse blanking, which blanking unit consists of an analysis filter bank (AFB) having M subbands, a module for frequency-selective pulse blanking of the subband signals (PBS) and a synthesis filter bank (SFB), which reassembles the signal, and – the analysis filter bank (AFB), which breaks down the received signal (r) into multiple subbands on a frequency-selective basis, is used before OFDM windowing (DFT), such that the subband breakdown applies pulse blanking on a subband-selective basis. 2.3 The invention lies in the field of flight communication, particularly that of the L-band digital aeronautical communication system 1 (L-DACS1).
