An online driver identification system, comprising an electronic driving license, a server for a centralized website by which updated driver-specific fitness data is accessible, and a vehicle processing unit that is in data communication with both the electronic driving license and the server. The electronic driving license comprises an identifying unit by which the driver inputs personal information, and the vehicle unit is operable to transmit a driver identifier associated with the driver to the server after the input personal information has been verified. The server is operable to retrieve and analyze the updated driving fitness data associated with the driver and to transmit a deny signal to the vehicle unit to prevent the vehicle from being driven by the driver if the retrieved fitness data is indicative that the driver is unfit to drive. |
