PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate nonconformity of conventional structure in which a bracket is positioned on the back of a chain wheel to prohibit visibility, in which it overhangs backward to reduce a gap to a vehicle body, in which back inclination limit or extension of overhang for securing the gap deteriorate vehicle performance, and in which cost is increased in constitution of more than two members for securing visibility. SOLUTION: In a mast device for a forklift, the bracket 11 composed of a thick plate, and having a roughly L-shaped form is obliquely disposed from the back side of a rail 3 toward the chain wheel 2 to provide a compact head stay.
