METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SYNCHRONIZING INITIAL FREQUENCY IN OFDM SYSTEM, IN WHICH PERFORMANCE DETERIORATION IS IMPROVED

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for synchronizing an initial frequency in an OFDM system are provided to prevent the deterioration by dividing an integral section for calculating a correlation value between a received symbol and a reference symbol into plural integral sections. CONSTITUTION: A buffer is used for shifting demodulated symbols and outputting the shifted symbols. A controller(326) is used for determining an integral section according to phase correlation band width, a divided band number according to the integral section and generating and controlling a symbol time offset according to the divided band number. A reference symbol distortion unit(325) generates a reference symbol having a distorted phase. A counter(324) is used for counting the amount of shift. A partial correlation unit(322) calculates a partial correlation value for the divided bands of K number by using the shifted symbol and the reference symbol. A maximum value detector(323) is used for outputting the estimated coarse frequency offset value by obtaining the shift amount corresponding to a maximum partial correlation value.
