PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine which increases the number of installable places. SOLUTION: The outer box 1 of the drum type washing machine has an outer box opening part 11 for putting laundry articles in and out on its front face part. A water tank 3 arranged in the outer box 1 has a water tank opening part 18 corresponding to the outer box opening part 11, and is tilted so that the rear part is positioned lower than the front part having the opening part 18. A drum 4 arranged rotatably in the water tank 3 has an opening part relative to the opening part 18, and houses the laundry articles. A heat exchange for dehumidification provided on a lower side than the drum 4 is for drying the laundry articles. At the rear part of the top surface of the outer box 1, a stage part 16 positioned lower than the front part of the top surface is formed. The stage part 16 has a vertical surface 16b connected with the rear end of the front part of the top surface of the outer box 1, and opposes the rear part of the tilted water tank 3 from its upper side.
