Method for the treatment of brine

Treatment of salt brine involves (a1) precipitating bivalent cations from the brine with sulfate ions and hydroxide ions; (b1) precipitating remaining bivalent cations from the brine with carbonate ions and blowing in flue gas; (c1) separating the brine from the step (b1) into concentrate and permeate, by nanofiltration, where the permeate is a product in the form of purified brine; and (d1) recirculating the concentrate into the step (a1).
