The method involves pre-setting a set value (Cl,Cr) from an electronic control unit (18) to control an actuator unit for adjustment of a steering angle of a vehicle wheel. The measured value of the turning condition of a steering column (1), which is operated manually by a driver, is selected. The information over the existence or non-existence of a manual operation of the steering column is determined. An independent claim is also included for a servo steering for a motor vehicle, which has a steering column with a sensor for the measurement of a turning condition of the steering column.
