A vehicle seat 12, preferably a rear seat that may be stowed in a floor recess 30, has a reconfigurable two part planar member 18 disposed behind and preferably connected to the vehicle seat. The planar member has an upper part 20 hinged to a lower part 22. The lower pan 22 may be hinged to the seat back 14. In use, the upper and lower parts may adopted various configurations, including a first configuration in which the upper and lower parts lie adjacent and parallel to the seat back [as shown Fig. 2]; and a second configuration in which the lower part lies parallel to the seat back and the upper part lies parallel to the floor thereby forming a tray or parcel shelf [as shown in Fig. 4]. In further configurations the upper and lower parts fully or partially cover the recess 30 in which the seat may be stowed [see Figures 3,5,7]. The upper part 20 may be used to divide the floor recess 30 into separate compartments. |
