PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening a new obesity-treating agent and obesity-preventing agent. SOLUTION: This method for screening the obesity-treating agent or obesity-preventing agent is characterized by selecting a TUSC5 gene expression inhibitory substance or a TUSC5 protein expression inhibitory substance as the obesity-treating agent or obesity-preventing agent based on the expression inhibitory activities of a test substance on the TUSC5 gene or TUSC5 protein.
