An internal combustion engine includes one or more pre-chambers (2) connected to a pre-chamber supply conduit (3) for supplying fuels (F) to the pre-chambers (2) and one or more main combustion chambers (4). The fuels (F) in the main combustion chambers (4) can be ignited by igniting flares flowing to the main combustion chambers (4) from the pre-chambers (2). The igniting flares are generated by igniting the fuels (F) in the pre-chambers (2). One or more valves (6.1, 6.2) are provided for the pre-chamber supply conduit (3) to reduce a pressure difference between the main combustion chambers (4) and a pre-chamber gas feed. The valves (6.1, 6.2) can operate as an open loop or a closed loop by an open loop or closed loop control apparatus (5) in accordance with parameter properties of a power change occurring due to the internal combustion engine (1). Or, the valves (6.1, 6.2) can switch at least a part of a pre-chamber fuel flow toward the pre-chambers (2) to a volume separated from the pre-chambers (2) through the pre-chamber supply conduit (3).
