PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter capable of suppressing a light source's temperature variation caused by burst signal generation.SOLUTION: An optical transmitter comprises an optical signal generation unit and a transmitter control unit. The optical signal generation unit includes: a light source; temperature adjustment means for adjusting the light source's temperature; and optical amplification means for amplifying light generated by the light source to generate a burst signal. The transmitter control unit includes temperature variation suppression means for transmitting a temperature suppression signal for reporting a temperature suppression amount for suppressing the light source's temperature variation caused by the burst signal generation by the optical amplification means, to the temperature adjustment means. The temperature adjustment means receives the temperature suppression signal before the time required for temperature adjustment of the temperature adjustment means earlier than timing of the optical amplification means generating the burst signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
