PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the fluid state and material transfer performance of a dialyzate by setting the hydraulic equiv. diameter at the time of wetting of a dialyzate side flow passage of a blood dialyzer, in which a hollow fiber membrane is housed within a housing and the blood side flow passage exists within hollow fibers and the dialyzate side flow passage likewise exists on the outside thereof, to a specific value or below. SOLUTION: The hydraulic equiv. diameter at the time of wetting of the dialyzate side flow passage of the hollow fiber membrane type blood dialyzer, in which the hollow fiber membrane is housed within the housing and the blood side flow passage exists within the hollow fibers and the dialyzate side flow passage likewise exists on the outside of the hollow fibers, is set at <=165 μm. The hollow fiber membrane of, for example, a small film thickness is used and the inside diameter of the housing is made smaller in order to reduce the hydraulic equiv. diameter of the dialyzate side flow passage while the hollow fiber packing rate is maintained equal. For example, a cellulosic member and synthetic high-polymer membrane may be used for the dialysis membrane. The hollow fiber membrane preferably consists of a structure having an active layer and having a supporting layer on the outer side thereof. The pore diameter of the active layer is set at 3.5 to 8.5 nm. |
