(1) A hydrogen formation apparatus which comprises a bypass being provided in a raw material feeding path between a raw material feeding section and a hydrogen forming section via a path switching section and being connected to a catalytic burning section, so that a combustion gas can be fed to the hydrogen forming section. The apparatus allows the decrease of the time required for the start-up of the apparatus and the avoidance of the danger of the presence of a combustible gas during the stop operation of the apparatus. (2) A hydrogen formation apparatus which comprises a reforming section, a burner heating the reforming section, a modification section for modifying a gas from the reforming section and a CO oxidation section for the CO oxidation of a gas from the modification section, so that when the apparatus is stopped, a gas from the CO oxidation section can be fed to the burner at the same time that the feed of a raw material and a fuel for the burner is stopped and air is fed. The apparatus allows the prevention of dew condensation due to the lowering of the dew point of the gas in the apparatus, which leads to the prevention of the corrosion of the apparatus and the deterioration of the catalyst present therein. |
