The shock absorber for use on a cycle comprises a sleeve (21), in which a polygonal spindle (12) is mounted. When the sleeve is rotated the spindle screws into a cap and distorts a rubber tube (14) mounted coaxially around it, adjusting the resistance of the shock absorber.
