PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound generator capable of using a serial flash as a memory for storing both of waveform sample data read by a sound source part reads and a program read by a CPU to compactly constitute a substrate and obtaining the number of musical sound generation channels comparable as a conventional level.SOLUTION: Provided is a serial memory which stores data of m bits in each address and stores waveform data having nIO readable using n pins (m and n are two or more integers and m>n) and consisting of a plurality of waveform samples. An access part for performing reading access to the serial memory, sets the serial memory so as to read nIO at the time of power-up and reads the waveform samples by nIO reading instructions according to a waveform sample requirement for each time division channel from a sound source part to supply them to the sound source part. A control program is stored in the serial memory and is fetched by the nIO reading instructions. |
