PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a sealed battery with which temporary encapsulation and main encapsulation can be performed by a single member and air tightness in a joint portion can be easily inspected.SOLUTION: An encapsulation member 30 comprises: a metallic lid part 70; a shaft part 50 which is an elastic body; a support protrusion 61, and a distal end part 40. A proximal end part (engage part) 40b is included of which the distal end has a diameter larger than that of a liquid injection hole 10. The shaft part has a diameter smaller than that of the liquid injection hole and a shaft length longer than thickness of an edge 11 of the liquid injection hole. The manufacturing method includes: a temporary encapsulation process of bringing the engage part into press-contact with the edge of the liquid injection hole; a gas release process of forming a communication passage by pushing in the distal end part at such an extent that the lid part is not brought into contact with a battery case and that the distal end part is separated from the edge of the liquid injection hole; and a main encapsulation process of encapsulating the liquid injection hole while forming the communication passage inside of the lid part by pushing in the distal end part until the lid part is brought into contact with the battery case, compressing the support protrusion between the lid part and the battery case, and joining the lid part to the battery case.
