PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading and recording apparatus that can be miniaturized and inexpensive while ensuring the transport accuracy of a recording sheet and an original by avoiding an action of a back tension from an original transport roller with respect to a transport speed of a transport roller in common to the recording sheet and the original. SOLUTION: From the upstream side in the transport direction, a feeding means 602 for separately feeding a stacked sheet; a first transport means 100 for transporting the original to a read means; the read means 28 for reading the original; a second transport means 10 applying subscanning to the recording sheet; a recording means 1 for recording an image; and a paper discharge means 17 for discharging the sheet are arranged in this order, the transport speed of the first transport means is selected faster than that of the second transport means, or the first transport means is coupled to a common drive source 20 via a drive switching means 105.
