PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing method and a signal recording/reproducing device for precisely detecting a commercial in a program and an overlapped section in the main part of the program, before and after the commercial, and for automatically removing the commercial and the overlapped section for recording or reproduction in recording and reproduction. SOLUTION: The signal-recording/reproducing device records a broadcast signal 100 on a recording medium; reads the recorded broadcast signal for setting the base point of a section to be analyzed; sets the section to be analyzed, with the base point as a reference; classifies the section to be analyzed and the signal of a prescribed section continuous to the section to be analyzed into continuous frames; extracts the amount of feature in the broadcast signal for each classified frame; and determines the similarity between the frame of the section to be analyzed and that of the prescribed section continuous to the section to be analyzed, based on the amount of feature to detect the overlapped scene of the program.
