When a user depresses the switch (6), an opening position confirmation tone different from a speech sound is outputted from the opening of the receiver (4). Through the output of the tone from the opening of the receiver (4), the user can move the portable telephone to a position where the tone is best heard and can easily apply the opening of the receiver (4) to the ear hole.</p>
