PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital IO unit whose development can be completed in a short period of time by reducing the total number of items to be designed, and, even if new functions are added, reducing the number of items to be developed that are required by the addition. SOLUTION: The digital IO unit has a circuit board and a case for housing the circuit board. The circuit board is formed by separately designing three modules, i.e., a communication unit board 21, an IO circuit unit board 22, and a base unit board 23, and combining and connecting the modules together. The case is formed by separately designing two modules, i.e., a communication unit casing 10 and an IO unit casing 11, and connecting them together. The communication unit board has a communication connector 21a for a network to be connected and a communication circuit for the network. The base unit board has an IO connector 23a for connecting IO equipment.
