PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress shock in shifting from a lock-up state to a lock-up release state in a lock-up device.SOLUTION: This method is a control method in releasing a lock-up state in a lock-up device having a first clutch portion 28 disposed between a front cover 2 and a turbine 4, a piston 30 disposed between the first clutch portion 28 and the turbine 4, and a dog-clutch 32 for connecting the front cover 2 and the piston 30. This control method includes a first step, a second step and a third step. In the first step, the first clutch portion 28 is kept on in a state of connecting the dog clutch 32. In the second step, the connection of the dog clutch 32 is released while keeping the clutch-on state of the first clutch portion 28.
